I have had a recent large influx of subscribers, though I confess I don’t know why as I have been rather quiet for the past few months. Regardless, it is an honor. I have said before that I presume substack followers to be those most interested in my work, so I wanted to give this last update before my work finally arrives.
Forgive me my tardiness in these things, but I have a job, wife and small children so any “content” at this stage is just an act of will and love. I am however thrilled to say that Give Up The Ghost, my novel(la) is planned to be released on April 1st. I know this is the thing many people are waiting for and I thank you for your patience. I remain enthused about the project and, while I cannot predict sales, I believe anyone who enjoys my writing will find it worth the wait.
For those who follow me on X (twitter) @plzcallmechrist (following me there is the easiest way to stay updated on my work) you may have noticed my abrupt, significant turn toward a text+image collaboration in the name of art. The truth is I was growing tired of words, or the way people use them at least, and wanted to fracture the reality of the timeline and the way people read posts, while making my account beautiful and allowing myself a form of creation outside of writing. If you are looking for something a bit unusual and new, or are interested in my aesthetic sensibilities, I invite you to experience it there and hope it speaks to you.
My acceleration essay continues but it is one of the most trying intellectual pursuits I have attempted, so it will get there when it does.
Lastly, regarding Book Maggot, I recently released a new episode with Dan Baltic regarding his novel, NUTCRANKR, available on Spotify.
All of this to say, I am still writing and creating, albeit slower than the internet might abide. Thank you again for your support and expect my next post to be the Give Up The Ghost cover and announcement.
